ROSEMONT, Pa. – This past fall of 2019, Notre Dame of Maryland University had 34 student-athletes named to the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) All-Academic Team as announced by the conference last Friday.
Each of the four fall teams, had no less than six players named to the All-Academic Team. The CSAC All-Academic Team recognizes student-athletes who have achieved a grade-point average of 3.20 or better during the 2019 semester of competition, while using a full season of eligibility as determined by the NCAA.
Notre Dame soccer and field hockey both led the fall season with 10 honors. Volleyball had eight and cross country had six. Of the 34 student-athletes, the Sophomore class led with 16 honorees, followed by the Junior class with eight. The Senior class had six and the Freshmen class finished with four. Over 70% of the honorees were from science majors including: pre-pharmacy, political science, nursing, biology, chemistry, physics, and more.
The 34 student-athletes honored accounts for over 60% of the fall student-athlete population, with the collective group finishing with a 3.122 GPA. Every fall team had above a 3.0; however, the cross country program led the fall sports with a team GPA of 3.347. The soccer and volleyball teams also had over a 3.2 with soccer finishing with a 3.282 and volleyball with a 3.246. The field hockey team had team GPA of 3.069.
Notre Dame was one of six schools in the CSAC to have more than half of their student-athlete population named to CSAC All-Academic.
