Tennis Powers Past Immaculata, 9-0

BALTIMORE, MD - College of Notre Dame took advantage of a shortened Immaculata roster and cruised to a 9-0 shutout win in Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) women's tennis action Wednesday afternoon. The win is the second consecutive victory for the Gators, who improved to 3-5 overall and 2-4 in CSAC competition. Immaculata dropped to 1-10 overall and 1-6 in CSAC play with the loss.

The Gators got off to a hot start, sweeping all three doubles matches. Senior Miku White (Great Mills, MD/Great Mills) and freshman Kelcy Bye (Parkton, MD/Hereford) earned their fifth consecutive win at No. 1 doubles and improved to 6-2 overall on the season with an 8-5 win over Felicia Thomas and Erika LaMarch. At No. 2 doubles, junior Madeleine Foster (Annapolis, MD/St. Mary's) and sophomore Steph Thackoordeen (Baltimore/Kenwood) topped Kaitlyn O'Donnell and Brittany Foster, 8-2. The Gators earned a win by default at No. 3, as the Mighty Macs traveled with just five student-athletes.

In singles competition, White defeated LaMarch, 8-2 while Bye earned an 8-0 win over Thomas at No. 2 singles. Foster defeated O'Donnell at No. 3 singles, 8-3 and Thackoordeen topped Foster, 8-2 at No. 4 singles. Manda Hollister (Meshoppen, PA/Elk Lake) defeated Elizabeth Strauch, 6-1, 6-0, at No. 5 singles to round out the competition for the day, as the Gators won by default at No. 6 singles.

The Gators will look to extend their winning streak to three matches on Friday at CSAC opponent Cabrini.
