Baltimore, MD – College of Notre Dame Women’s Tennis picks up its first Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) win over Rosemont College, 5-4.
Senior Madeline Foster (Annapolis, MD/St. Mary’s) secured the first of three singles win for the Gators. Foster defeated Rosemont’s Karis Coad in three sets. Coad took a tight first set, but College of Notre Dame’s senior responded with two consecutive set wins. Foster won 4-6, 6-1, and 6-3.
Steph Thackoordeen (Baltimore, MD/Kenwood) took a decisive two set win over Kayla Coad. Thackoordeen won 6-2, 6-3 to improve to 1-1 overall in the #3 singles position. Junior Christina Rose (Waldorf, MD/Henry E. Lackey) picked up a win in a tight three set match at #4 singles. Rose took the opening set 7-5 over Delanie Schaepe, before dropping the second set 3-6. The junior responded with strong, 6-2, third set win to take the match.
The Gators also picked up two forfeit wins at third doubles and sixth singles.
With today’s win College of Notre Dame improves to 1-1 overall and 1-1 in CSAC play. The Gators travel to Catholic University tomorrow afternoon.
