Stevenson, MD – College of Notre Dame Women’s Tennis struggled against Stevenson University in a non-conference match.
Kelcy Bye (Parkton, MD/Hereford) and partner Madeleine Foster (Annapolis, MD/St. Mary’s) got the Gators started off on the right note on Thursday afternoon, by taking the #1 doubles match 8-3 over Stevenson’s top pair of Julie Strong and Maura Bernstein.
Bye carried her success from the doubles match into her #1 singles match. The sophomore took an early set one lead and never looked back, picking up a 6-1 win. Set two similar to the first, but this time Bye shut out her opponent, 6-0.
Foster also carried over her play from the earlier doubles match, taking the first set of her #2 singles match, 6-2. Stevenson’s Strong pulled the match to one set apiece. The College of Notre Dame senior unfortunately dropped a close third set and fell to Strong.
The Gators will look to rebound on Saturday afternoon when they host Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) opponent Philadelphia Biblical University at 2p.m.
