Baltimore, MD - College of Notre Dame Women’s Tennis opened their 2010 season Saturday afternoon by hosting Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) opponent Keystone College. The Gators dropped their season opener, 5-4.
The Gators and the Giants were in a tight match all afternoon, with the last pair on the court determining the match’s outcome. College of Notre Dame and Keystone College split the six singles matches, while the Giants took 2 out of 3 doubles matches.
Kelcy Bye (Parkton, MD/Hereford) dominated her #1 singles match, defeating Shiloh Richner 6-2, 7-5. Christina Rose (Waldorf, MD/Henry E. Lackey) added another point for the Gators with a win in the #4 singles slot. Stephanie Uza (Germantown, MD/Seneca Valley) secured the third singles win for College of Notre Dame in three sets, 6-1, 3-6, 6-2.
Uza and partner Megan Kemp (Easton, MD/Easton) recorded the only doubles win for the Gators, 9-7.
College of Notre Dame looks to improve to 1-1 in CSAC play when they host Rosemont College on September 16th.
