Baltimore, Md. – September 1, 2011 – Notre Dame of Maryland University tennis opened the 2011 campaign with a 5-4 win over visiting Immaculata University. The Gators edged their Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) opponent to move to 1-0 on the year, while the Mighty Macs fall to 0-1.

Kelcy Bye and Amanda Fansler earned a point for the Gators with an 8-6 victory in #1 doubles.

Bye and Fansler each won their singles matches, with Bye besting Felicia Thomas 6-0 in straight sets at the #1 position, and Fansler topping Theresa Martini 6-2, 6-1 in #2 singles.

Amanda Schmedding earned a 6-3, 6-3 win over Julie Einwechter at #3 singles, while Steph Thackoordeen picked up another point for the Gators with a 6-2, 6-3 win in #4 singles.

Notre Dame continues CSAC play when they travel to Scranton, Pa. to face Marywood University at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 3.
