Langhorne, Pa. -- The Notre Dame of Maryland University tennis team concluded their 2013 season by defeating Cairn University 7-2 in Colonial States Athletic Conference action.
The Gators started the match by sweeping doubles play, with the No. 1 pair of junior
Celeste' Holmes-Tate (Baltimore, Md./Milford Mill Academy) and
Elizabeth Tran (Clarksville, Md.) taking their match 8-0. The freshman duo of
Carrie Naylor (Elkridge, Md./Mount de Sales Academy) and
Natalie Smith (San Diego, Calif./Point Loma) took the No. 2 doubles position 9-7 while seniors
Megan Kemp (Easton, Md.) and
Nissa Dirige (Parkville, Md.) claimed No. 3 doubles 8-1.
In singles action, Tran claimed victory at No. 2 singles with Kemp, Naylor and Smith all claiming the win in their singles spot.
On Friday, the squad travelled to CSAC power Cabrini College, falling 9-0.
Notre Dame finishes the season at 3-10, improving their standing and record from the 2012 campaign.
