Tennis Falls In Close Match

Baltimore, Md. --  Despite winning three singles matches, the Notre Dame of Maryland University tennis team fell to Colonial States Athletic Conference rival Keystone College 5-4 in the team match to fall to the Giants in the Gators home opener. 

Freshman Catherine Bruzdzinski (Baltimore, Md./Baltimore Lutheran) led the Gators with a win in her singles and doubles match.  Sophomores Carrie Naylor (Elkridge, Md./Mount de Sales) and Natalie Smith (San Diego, Calif./Point Loma) claimed their singles contest. 

Bruzdzinski teamed with junior Zanobia Jones (Charlotte, N.C./East Lincoln) to take the No. 3 Doubles position, winning 8-5.  She led went to win at No. 6 Singles by a score of 6-1, 6-4. 

Naylor took home the No. 2 Singles matchup 6-0, 6-3 while Smith saw victory at No. 3 Singles 6-3, 6-1. 

Notre Dame will now travel to Gwynedd Mercy University on Saturday to face the defending CSAC champion Griffins.
