Tennis Captures Win At Cairn

RESULTS  

Baltimore, Md.  --  Notre Dame of Maryland University captured a 6-3 victory over Colonial States Athletic Conference rival Cairn University Thursday night.  

After doubles play, the Gators held a 2-1 lead as they would win No. 2 and No. 3 Doubles.  At No. 2, the junior duo of Carrie Naylor (Elkridge, Md./Mount de Sales) and Natalie Smith (San Diego, Calif./Point Loma) won 8-1, while the No. 3 pair of junior Kaitlyn Sommer (Charlotte, N.C./Charlotte Catholic) and freshman Sandy Vo (Baltimore, Md./Parkville) took an 8-4 victory. 

The four also collected singles wins to give Notre Dame the match victory.  At No. 3 Singles, Naylor won 6-2, 6-0.  Vo claimed No. 5 Singles 6-4, 3-6, 13-11.  At No. 6 Singles, Sommers won 6-1, 6-0.  Smith would capture a victory at No. 4 Singles due to her opponent being forced to retire. 

With the win, the Gators improve to 6-5, 4-5 in the conference.  The squad will conclude their season on Saturday as they head to CSAC foe Keystone College.
