RESULTS Baltimore, Md. -- Notre Dame of Maryland University posted their third victory in Colonial States Athletic Conference play after defeating Summit University 7-2. The three CSAC wins are the most since the 2011 season while their four overall wins are the most in a season since the 2009-10 season.
The Gators took a 2-1 lead after doubles play, as the No. 2 Doubles pair of juniors
Carrie Naylor (Elkridge, Md./Mount de Sales) and
Natalie Smith (San Diego, Calif./Point Loma) captured an 8-4 win and No. 3 Doubles duo of junior
Kaitlyn Sommer (Charlotte, N.C./Charlotte Catholic) and freshman
Sandy Vo (Baltimore, Md./Parksville) won with a score of 8-1.
In singles, the Gators would capture five more wins to claim the 7-2 match victory. Naylor would see victory at No. 3 Singles, 6-1, 6-3, and Smith won No. 4 Singles 6-1, 6-0. At No. 5 Singles, Vo took the 6-0, 6-1 victory while Sommer sealed a No 6 Singles win 6-1, 6-1.
Junior Liz Tran (Clarksville, Md./River Hill) would also take No 1 Singles 6-3, 6-1.
The Gators improve to 4-2 on the season, 3-2 overall. They will return to the court on Friday as they host CSAC rival Immaculata University.
