BOX SCOREScranton, Pa. -- Notre Dame of Maryland University's tennis team opened their 2015 campaign at Colonial States Athletic Conference foe Marywood University.
In the match, the Gators would compete and picked up numerous game victories, but would be overmatched by the Pacers, as Notre Dame fell 9-0.
Sophomore
Kaitlyn Sommer (Charlotte, N.C./Charlotte Catholic) would lead the Gators, as she would pick up the only set victory on the afternoon for the Gators. After falling 4-6 in the opening set, she rebounded to take a 6-1 victory in the second set. However, she would fall 10-5 in the tie-breaking set to drop the match.
Sommer would also pair with
Sandy Vo (Baltimore, Md./Parkville) to send their doubles match into a tie-breaker as well, but would be unable to take away victory as they fall in the tie-breaker 7-5.
The team will return to action on Friday as they host CSAC rival Neumann University for the Gators first home match of the season.
