BALTIMORE, Md. – The tennis team was host to the Cairn Highlanders today. The Gators narrowly edged the Highlanders, as the team came away with a 5-4 win.
Notre Dame improves to 7-3 overall and remains in fourth place in the Colonial States Athletic Conference with a 6-3 record.
The Gators mounted a comeback after they trailed 2-1 following doubles play. Seniors Carrie Naylor and Kaitlyn Sommer combined for an 8-1 No. 2 doubles victory.
In singles play, Naylor won her No. 2 doubles match in straight sets, while Sommer followed with a 6-2, 6-5 win at the No. 3 flight.
Senior Natalie Smith notched a 6-1, 6-2 win in singles No. 4 and junior Cat Bruzdzinski captured a 6-1, 6-1 No. 5 singles victory.
The Gators host Cabrini (6-3, 7-6 CSAC) tomorrow in a senior day showdown at 1 p.m.
