WASHINGTON, D.C. – The tennis team earned its third consecutive win tonight, as the Gators topped Trinity Washington 7-2.
Seniors Elizabeth Tran and Natalie Smith paired to earn an 8-2 No. 1 doubles victory to start the day's action. Juniors Morgan Harter and Catherine Bruzdzinski followed, scoring an 8-2 win at the No. 3 spot, while senior Kaitlyn Sommer and sophomore Sandy Vo closed doubles play with an 8-4 No. 2 doubles victory.
Smith's strong play carried over into singles, where the senior scored a 6-0, 6-1 win at the No. 3 flight. In No. 2 singles, Sommer recorded a 6-1, 6-1 win.
The Tigers took No. 1 singles, but the Gators pressed on, winning the remaining matches.
Bruzdzinski scored a 6-0, 6-1 No. 6 victory, Harter followed with a 6-3, 6-2 win at the No. 5 flight and Vo closed out the win with a 6-4, 6-2 No. 4 singles victory.
The Gators are on the road on Friday, as the club takes on Immaculata (7-4, 3-2 CSAC) in a CSAC match scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
