BALTIMORE, MD – The Notre Dame of Maryland softball team (4-2, 1-1 CSAC) hosted Clarks Summit (3-8, 1-1 CSAC) as the away team on Saturday. Notre Dame suffered a difficult 4-3 loss in game one after a throwing error in the bottom of the six give the Defenders the go-ahead score. The Gators bounced back in game two with
Ciarra Bockstie on the mound. Bockstie pitched a five-inning shutout while Notre Dame bats erupted for 15 runs on 14 hits.
GAME ONE
- Kendall Snyder, the team leader in RBI (12) got the Gators a 1-0 lead after driving in Jessie Leatherwood in the top of the first. Snyder drove in two runs with the second coming in the top of the third to give NDMU an early 2-0 advantage.
- Maci Lopez started the ballgame 3-for-3 and scored two runs in the loss. She was 3-for-4 on the day with a double.
- Leatherwood got her third start of the season and struck out 10 batters in the loss. At the plate, she had three hits on four tries.
- Notre Dame had 10 hits to Clarks Summits' five. Miranda Burton recorded her fourth multi-hit game of the season.
GAME TWO
- The Gators loaded the bases to start game two with Snyder on deck. The freshman blasted a double through the gap driving in three runs. The very next at-bat, Bethani Newbold drove Snyder in on a single.
- Bockstie made her second career start and stared on the mound and in the batter's box. She provided herself some early cushion with a triple in the top of the fist to bring in Newbold. The freshman added two doubles later in the game.
- Bockstie went five strong innings, striking out six and allowing only four hits.
- Notre Dame (Md.) added four runs in the fourth to take a 10-0 lead. Madison Zielke was credited with an RBI.
- In the fifth, with runners on second and third, Newbold drove in two more runs on a double down the line.
- Every single Gator recorded a hit. Delilah Litz recorded her first career hit and went on to score after stealing second to get into scoring position.
- Newbold, Bockstie, Burton, and Leatherwood all had three runs in the win. Four Gators successfully stole a base (Leatherwood, Burton, Newbold, Litz).

Notre Dame (Md.) will play a four game home-and-home series starting at Washington Adventist on Tuesday, March 29, and wrapping up at home on Friday, April 1.
