NDMU Walks Off to Send Off Seniors

BALTIMORE, MD – The Notre Dame of Maryland softball team (8-12, 5-7 CSAC) and Rosemont College (12-15, 8-3 CSAC) saw both games during Saturday doubleheader won by one run. Notre Dame won game one on a Ciarra Bockstie walk-off single before honoring graduating seniors Kayla Grube and Maci Lopez in their final home contest. 

 Game One (NDMU, 6-5)
  • Kendall Snyder got the start on the mound and went four innings with only two earned runs allowed. Snyder got the Gators on the board in the batter's box facing two outs in the bottom of the first.
  • She blasted a double down the gap to get Miranda Burton to home plate. 
  • Bethani Newbold added to her team's lead with a two-out RBI single to get Snyder home. 
  • Newbold led all hitters batting 4-for-4 with an RBI and one extra-base hit.
  • Like Snyder, Bockstie did it all for the Gators in game one, pitching four innings to seal the win.
  • At the plate, She started her day with an RBI single to drive in Newbold in the first and went on to hit 3-of-4. 
  • Jessie Leatherwood drove in the Gators next run on her third triple of the season. She was 2-for-4 after a two-out single to get into scoring position for the game-tying run.
  • Burton tied the ballgame on the next at-bat on a double to send the game to extra innings.
  • In the bottom of the eighth, Delilah Litz came in as a pinch-runner and advanced to third after a Newbold single.
  • Bockstie won the game on the next at-bat to give NDMU win number eight on the year. 
  • Lopez extended her hit-streak to 16 games.

Game Two (Rosemont, 7-6)
  • After a second look at the Ravens starter, NDMU broke free in the third down 1-0.
  • Burton tied the school record on the day with three doubles with the second driving in Lopez and Leatherwood.
  • Lopez added to the hit streak (17 games) and was 2-for-5 with two runs. 
  • Bockstie drove in Burton on a sacrifice fly to right-field to give NDMU a 3-1 lead after three.
  • Candace Forgach-Aguilar was 2-for-4 on the day and came into score in the fourth off of a Leatherwood single. 
  • Leatherwood was 3-for-3 and maintains her lead as the CSAC leader in batting average (.517). She had two RBIs in the loss.
  • Grube walked twice and came in to score once. 
  • Burton led the team with three RBIs off three hits.
