BALTIMORE – Notre Dame of Maryland University received two more Colonial States Athletic Conference weekly awards on Monday morning, as
Emma Alascia was selected as Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week while
Natalie Newton took home Women's Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week accolades.
Ciarra Bockstie (volleyball) and
Averee Radonovich (soccer) added weekly CSAC Honor Roll recognition for the Gators after the two programs combined to go undefeated in their three contests. Volleyball posted 3-0 sweeps over Washington Adventist and St. Mary's (Md.), while soccer defeated Valley Forge by an 8-0 final in Saturday's CSAC opener.
Alascia (Westminster, Md./Winters Mill) totaled a career high seven points in that 8-0 win, as she recorded her first collegiate hat trick while finishing the afternoon with three goals and one assist. Alascia provided the game-winning goal after opening the scoring in the 36th minute. She added a pair of insurance strikes after the intermission, and she had the primary assist on the last of NDMU's six goals in the second half. Alascia now has 20 points overall (8 G, 4 A) in her first 18 collegiate games.
Newton (Harpers Ferry, W.Va./Washington) registered 26 assists, four aces and five digs while helping the volleyball program extend its winning streak to three matches. She led the offense in assists in both contests, with 15 vs. Washington Adventist and 11 against St. Mary's. Newton's three aces in the Washington Adventist victory matched a season high, and her setting helped NDMU record a season-best .450 attack percentage during the opening set.
Radonovich (Havre de Grace, Md./Havre de Grace) scored her fifth collegiate goal and helped the Gators hold Valley Forge without a shot over the weekend. Bockstie (Nottingham, Md./Perry Hall) led NDMU with 15 kills and four blocks across two matches, and she had a career-high four aces in the win over Washington Adventist.
