Westminster, MD– The Notre Dame of Maryland University softball team dropped a pair of games to McDaniel College on Wednesday, Mar. 20. The Gators could not overcome some early runs in game one, falling by a score of 5-1. NDMU then dropped game two by a score of 8-0.  

GAME 1 

The Gators got off to a strong start, scoring in the top of the first inning. Julianna Leatherwood started the rally, blasting a single through the left side of the infield. After she advanced to second, Charlene Torres roped a double into left center, allowing Leatherwood to score, giving NDMU the 1-0 advantage.  

The Green Terror responded, plating a pair of runs in the first and second innings, building a 4-1 advantage. Starting pitcher Jessie Leatherwood would settle into the game after a rocky start, holding McDaniel to just one run over the final four innings. In addition, she struck out four Green Terror batters. The Gators recorded five hits in the final five innings, but they could not string enough hits together to plate another run, falling by a score of 5-1.  

GAME 2 

NDMU struggled to get the bats going in game two, with Lilyian Hafner and Malorie Gogel each recording a single. McDaniel College used six runs in the third inning to build a large lead, rolling to an 8-0 five inning victory.   

WHO'S NEXT 
The Gators will host Gallaudet in a home opening doubleheader on Saturday, Mar. 22. The first pitch is scheduled for 12:00 PM.
