Chambersburg, PA– The Notre Dame of Maryland University softball team's historic season ended as they fell to top–seeded Wilson College by a score of 9-1 on Monday, May 6.
The began on Saturday, May 4 in wet and rainy conditions. After several delays, play was suspended in the bottom of the first inning with Wilson College holding a 5-0 lead.
Play resumed on Monday, with Wilson scoring one more time in the bottom of the inning to hold a 6-0 advantage. NDMU tried to climb back into the game in the top of the third inning. Julianna Leatherwood started the rally by rocketing a triple down the left line. Jessie Leatherwood drew a walk to put runners on the corners. Bethani Newbold drove a single through the left side, bringing home Ju. Leatherwood to make the score 6-1.
The Phoenix scored once in the fourth inning and twice in the fifth to put the game out of reach, securing the 9-1 victory.
