OWINGS MILLS, Md. – The Notre Dame of Maryland softball team's season came to an end with a hard-fought 2–1 loss to Cedar Crest College.
The Gators struck first in the third inning.
Scarlett Miller came around to score during a caught stealing rundown with
Julianna Leatherwood, giving the Gators a 1–0 advantage.
Cedar Crest responded in the sixth inning. Natalie Hasert tied the game with an RBI triple to left field, and Madison Nadasi followed with an RBI single to center, bringing home the go-ahead run.
The Gators were unable to answer in the final innings, as Cedar Crest held on for the 2–1 victory.
Claire Smith led the Gators with a 3-for-3 performance at te plate. Leatherwood,
Gabriella Allred, and
Annabelle Shumski all recorded hits on the day.
Malorie Gogel allowed two runs on four hits with five strikeouts over seven innings, taking the loss.
Notre Dame of Maryland closes the season with an 11–19 record in a competitive year, where a 7–9 mark in conference play saw the Gators finish eighth in the United East standings.
