Kara Zimmerman enters her third season as the Notre Dame of Maryland University Head Field Hockey Coach.
In 2015, sophomore Megan Morales was named the team's first ever Colonial States Ahtletic Conference Field Hockey Rookie of the Year, while Zimmerman led at the helm.
Prior to her time at NDMU, Zimmerman served as the assistant coach at Hood College in Frederick, Md. for three seasons. While working with the Blazers, she was responsible for working with the defense and goalkeepers. In addition to her coaching responsiblites, Zimmerman was in charge of all game contracts for the Blazers.
Zimmerman played a major role in moving the program forward through the recruitment of student-athletes. Through her efforts, the defense posted five shutouts, including four in 2014, while the team finished with its most wins since 2005.
Aside from her coaching duties at Notre Dame, Kara has also been serving as a coach with the Carroll County-based club team Majestx for the past seven years.
A 2011 graduate from Stevenson University, Zimmerman spent the 2011 season as a student assistant at Stevenson, where she was a four-year member of the field hockey team. While helping the Mustangs earn three bids to the CAC tournament, Kara was named to the CAC All-Conference Team three times. A captain her senior year, she was named to the NFHCA All-Region Team three times, and earned her way to the NFHCA All-Star Senior Game after her senior season.
