Dr. Ashley Wagner, was appointed to lead Notre Dame's competitive NCAA Division III athletic and recreation programs, recruiting student-athletes and engaging in student retention efforts on July 17, 2021. Gator Athletics boasts nine women's intercollegiate teams in the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC), including the 2021 and 2019 CSAC women's lacrosse champions and 2019 and 2018 CSAC women's volleyball champions.
Dr. Wagner comes to Notre Dame from Rosemont College, where she served as assistant athletic director and senior woman administrator. At Rosemont, she coordinated game management operations, assisted with general oversight of coaches and maintained the department's NCAA compliance. She also led a yearlong student-athlete programming series and managed the athletic training program.
Dr. Wagner previously served as associate director of athletics/senior woman administrator at New England College, where she oversaw four intercollegiate teams, sports communications and athletic training. Before New England College, she was assistant director of athletics and head athletic trainer/senior woman administrator at Southern Vermont College. In addition, she taught sport management and athletic training courses as an instructor at Rosemont College, Southern Vermont College and Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts.
She is a member of the NCAA Division III Nominating Committee and NCAA Division III Advisory Council, a former member of the NCAA Minority Opportunities and Interests Committee, a former chair of the Senior Woman Administrators for the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) and a former co-chair of the NECC Athletic Trainers.
She holds a Doctor of Education in athletic administration from Northcentral University, a master's degree in adult learning and organizational performance from Drake University and a bachelor's degree in exercise and sport science from Iowa State University.
