Neumann Shuts Down Volleyball, 3-0

ASTON, PA - College of Notre Dame volleyball saw its two-game winning streak snapped Tuesday evening, as host Neumann topped the Gators 3-0 (25-18, 25-17, 25-11) in a Colonial States Athletic Conference match. Notre Dame dropped to 6-18 overall and dropped to 2-8 in CSAC play. Neumann clinched the second seed in the CSAC postseason tournament and improved to 10-1 in conference play and 11-21 overall.

Notre Dame's offensive production was limited to just two players. Junior outside hitter Catherine Subrizi (Bel Air, MD/John Carroll) led all players in the match with 13 kills. Sophomore outside hitter Katie Murphy (Baltimore, MD/Baltimore Poly) had three kills along with 13 digs.

Thirteen student-athletes saw action in the match for the Knights. Ashley Mathis had a team-high ten kills for Neumann while Cecily Scavicchio totaled 21 assists.

Neumann hit for a .229 percentage in the match, including a .714 hitting percentage in the third set (11 kills, 1 attack error, 14 attempts).

Notre Dame will play its final home match of 2009 on Thursday with a 7 p.m. contest against non-conference opponent Penn State-Berks.
