Baltimore, MD – College of Notre Dame of Maryland basketball falls to Lancaster Bible College 61-48 in their 2010-11 season opener.
College of Notre Dame and Lancaster Bible traded baskets in the first few trips up the court, but the Chargers quickly gained momentum pulling ahead 14-5. Lancaster Bible extended their early advantage to a 45-17 lead going into the half.
The Gators dominated the Chargers in the second half, outscoring Lancaster Bible 31-16. A Kelcy Bye (Parkton, MD/Hereford) three-pointer capped College of Notre Dame’s 7-1 run in the opening minutes of the second half. The Gators continued to steadily chip away at the Chargers lead as the half progressed. Notre Dame wrapped up an 11-1 run with 1:33 remaining in regulation to pull within 15 points, 44-59. College of Notre Dame’s excellent second half performance was not enough to surpass Lancaster Bible.
India Scott (Baltimore, MD/Baltimore Polytechnic) paced College of Notre Dame with her first double-double of the season, netting 21 points and pulling down 12 rebounds. Bye contributed 17 points for the Gators. Senior Catherine Subrizi (Bel Air, MD/John Carroll) went five for seven from the foul line and grabbed eight rebounds.
