Basketball Falls to Falcons

Baltimore, MD – College of Notre Dame of Maryland basketball drops a Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) contest to Cedar Crest College 71-36.

The teams traded multiple baskets in the open ten minutes of play, with Cedar Crest pulling ahead by seven points.  Cory Santos (Carlsbad, CA/Carlsbad) converted both free throw opportunities to cut the Falcons lead back to five points.  Notre Dame’s offense continued to keep pace with Cedar Crest over the next five and a half minutes. 

The Falcons offense extended their advantage over the Gators to thirteen points with 2:57 remaining. Katie Murphy (Baltimore, MD/ Baltimore Polytechnic) picked up five quick points reducing the point margin going into halftime.

The Falcons took control of the game at the start of the second half, extending the lead to twenty-one points. India Scott (Baltimore, MD/Baltimore Polytechnic) hit a lay-up and then converted two foul shots after a Cedar Crest turnover, cutting the deficit to seventeen points. The Gators struggled offensively over the next ten minutes, allowing the Falcons to build a significant advantage. Notre Dame would not be able to overcome Cedar Crests lead before time expired.

Scott
recorded a double-double on the afternoon with 13 points and 12 rebounds.  Santos was the Gators second highest scorer with eight points.

College of Notre Dame hosts Penn State-York Monday evening at 7p.m. in MBK Gymnasium.
