Basketball Upset by Chargers

Lancaster, PA – College of Notre Dame basketball traveled to non-conference opponent Lancaster Bible College on Tuesday evening. The contest was the second meeting between the two teams list season. Notre Dame fell in their season opener to Lancaster Bible, 61-48.

Catherine Subrizi (Bel Air, MD/John Carroll) ended the Chargers 5-0 in the opening minutes of the game with a trip to the foul line. The senior converted her opportunities to put the Gators on the board. Lancaster Bible’s offense hit two three-pointers to increase their advantage, but India Scott (Baltimore, MD/Baltimore Polytechnic) responded with a jumper of her own to silence the Chargers.

The key to the Gators offense for the remainder of the half would be strong interior play. The forwards found themselves with frequent trips to the foul line where they converted their chances.   Subrizi and Scott each recorded six points from the foul line in the first half. Lancaster Bible led the Gators 41-20 at halftime.

Cory Santos (Carlsbad, CA/Carlsbad) opened up the second half scoring for Notre Dame just under four minutes into play. The Gators chipped away at the Chargers lead on each of their next three trips up the court. Even with strong defensive play and a steady offensive presence Notre Dame could not overtake the Chargers, falling 82-40.

Senior India Scott posted her third double-double in as many games with 19 points and 19 rebounds. Subrizi went 7-for-12 from the foul line.

The Gators look to rebound from the tough loss when they travel to Colonial States Athletic Conference opponent Philadelphia Biblical University on Thursday evening. Tip-off is slated for 7:00 PM.
