Immaculata, PA – Immaculata University defeated College of Notre Dame of Maryland basketball Monday evening in a Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) contest.
The Gators had three players in double figures on the evening. Seniors India Scott and Catherine Subrizi led the way with 19 and 14 points respectively. Scott also grabbed nine rebounds and recorded two blocks. Subrizi pulled down six defensive rebounds. Cory Santos contributed 12 points for Notre Dame. Kelcy Bye added six rebounds, four points, two blocks and three assist.
The Gators and Mighty Macs were well matched for a majority of the first half. Notre Dame stayed within reach of Immaculata by spreading out the scoring between five different players. Subrizi opened up the scoring for the Gators with a jumper just fifty seconds into the action. Immaculata would hold a slight advantage on Notre Dame over the next thirteen minutes. Immaculata used the final seven minutes of the half to extend their lead over the Gators.
College of Notre Dame continued to push the tempo offensively in the second half. The increased tempo forced Immaculata out of position defensively which resulted in the Gators making several trips to the charity strip. Even with the frequent trips to the foul line and shooting 61.1% from the stripe for the game, Notre Dame fell to the Mighty Macs 91-53.
College of Notre Dame returns to the court on Thursday evening when they host Neumann University at 7:00 PM. In their first meeting this season the undefeated Knights took home a 92-45 victory.
