Baltimore, MD – Immaculata University defeated College of Notre Dame of Maryland 80-55 on Wednesday evening the in the Gators final game of the 2010-11 season. Before the game got underway, the team honored two seniors India Scott (Baltimore, MD/Baltimore Polytechnic) and Catherine Subrizi (Bel Air, MD/John Carroll).
College of Notre Dame struggled against the Mighty Macs for much of the first half. The Gators Kelcy Bye (Parkton, MD/Hereford) found a wide open Scott beyond the arc to knot the game at 5-5 with 16:25 remaining. Three minutes later Dee Waters (Havre de Grace, MD/Aberdeen) scored on a put back attempt to keep the Gators within five points of Immaculata. Over the final ten minutes the Mighty Macs caught fire and extended their advantage to 47-16 midway through regulation.
Notre Dame answered in the final twenty minutes outscoring Immaculata 39-33. The Gators outscored the Mighty Macs with a combination of perimeter shooting and post play. Cory Santos (Carlsbad, CA/Carlsbad) started the Notre Dame run with a three-pointer just thirty seconds into the half. A Scott lay-up, off a drive down the lane, capped a 22-11 run to pull the Gators back to within twenty points with twelve minutes remaining in regulation.
College of Notre Dame hit four three-pointers in the final ten minutes of play, but Immaculata responded with their own three-pointers to keep the Gators at a distance. Time expired before Notre Dame overtook the Mighty Macs.
Scott finished her final game as a Gator with 25 points, 13 rebound, 4 steals and a block. Subrizi concluded her career with eight points and six rebounds. Guard Kelcy Bye finished with ten points, four rebounds, two blocks, and two assists. Santos pulled down 13 rebounds, netted eight points, and dished out a team high five assists.
