Owings Mills, Md. – September 1, 2011 – The Notre Dame of Maryland volleyball team was dealt a 3-0 loss at Stevenson University to open the 2011 season.

The Gators loss was by game scores of 25-5, 25-5, and 25-12.

The Mustangs had six players with at least three kills, while the Gators were only able to total four kills as a team. Helaina Caldwell (Elkton/Rising Sun) had a game-high 10 digs, while classmate Marylu Ortiz (Oceanside, Calif./El Camino) had five digs. Amanda Sijera (Balitmore/Perry Hall) and Tawny Cevora (Norfolk, Va./Lake Taylor) each added four digs.

Notre Dame hosts Keystone College and Christendom College Saturday, September 3 in a tri-match in Marion Burk Knott Sports and Activities Complex. The Gators take on their CSAC rival Keystone at 12:00, while Keystone and Christendom play at 2:00. The hosts then face Christendom in the day’s final match at 4:00 p.m.
