Front Royal, Va. - September 22, 2011 - Lani Caldwell and Marylu Ortiz combined for 27 kills and 20 digs, but it wasn't enough as the Notre Dame of Maryland University volleyball team dropped a tough 3-2 decision to Christendom College.

Despite the all around effort from the freshman duo from Elkton, Md. and El Camino, Calif., the Gators fell by scores of 21-25, 25-16, 22-25, 25-14, and 15-12.

Sophomore Amanda Sijera (Baltimore/Perry Hall) contributed 21 assists in the non-conference loss. The Gators (2-8) will travel to Allentown, Pa. for a tri-match on Saturday, October 1. Notre Dame will face CSAC rival Cedar Crest College at 11:00 a.m. before a 1:00 p.m. match with Washington College.
