Baltimore, Md. - September 3, 2011 - The Notre Dame of Maryland University volleyball team picked up a 3-0 win over Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) rival Keystone College in their own tri-match. The Gators won by scores of 27-25, 25-21, 25-18 and moved to 1-1 overall and 1-1 in CSAC play with the win.

Freshman Marylu Ortiz (Oceanside, Calif. / El Camino) led the Gators with 10 kills and 6 digs, while classmate Lani Caldwell (Elkton, Md. / Rising Sun) had 11 assists in the first win of 2011 for Notre Dame.  

In the afternoon’s second match, Christendom bested Keystone 3-1 (25-12, 25-13, 21-25, 25-16).

The Crusaders moved to 2-0 on the afternoon with a 3-1 win over the host Gators by scores of 25-11, 22-25, 28-26, 27-25. Ortiz again picked up 10 kills, while sophomore Amanda Sijera (Baltimore, Md. / Perry Hall) had 11 assists. Freshman Tawny Cevora (Norfolk, Va. / Lake Taylor) picked up 4 service aces and 5 digs in the loss.

Notre Dame of Maryland University moves to 1-2 on the year and next hosts Alvernia University on Tuesday, September 6.
