Baltimore, Md. - September 8, 2011 - The Notre Dame of Maryland University volleyball team dropped a 3-0 decision to non-conference rival Hood College in the Marion Burk Knott Sports and Activities Complex. The Blazers earned their first win of 2011 by scores of 25-20, 25-15, 25-10. 

Freshman Marylu Ortiz (Oceanside, Calif. / El Camino) again led her Gators with 8 kills, while Amanda Sijera (Baltimore, Md. / Perry Hall) and Lani Caldwell (Elkton, Md. / Rising Sun) combined for 10 assists. Victoria Nwangwu (Dundalk, Md. / Dundalk) picked up six digs in the loss. Notre Dame now stands at 1-4 on the season. 

The Gators travel to Trinity Washington University Saturday, September 10 in non-conference action.
