Gators Sweep Tri-Match To Improve Playoff Odds

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Hackettstown, N.J.  --  Notre Dame of Maryland University moved closer to returning to the Colonial States Athletic Conference Playoffs after sweeping Cedar Crest College and Centenary College in a CSAC tri-match.  

The Gators opened the day with a 3-0 victory over Cedar Crest, defeating the Falcons 25-23, 25-21, 25-17.  They followed it with a 3-0 victory over the host Cyclones, 25-8, 25-9, 25-20. 

The win puts Notre Dame in a tie for the final two playoff spots and one game ahead of Cedar Crest and Keystone College, who they defeated Friday night, with four games remaining in conference play.

Freshman Ashley Pasker (Newark, N.J./University) led the offense with 18 kills.  She also added three aces.  Senior Marylu Ortiz (Oceanside, Calif./El Camino) chipped in with 17 kills while freshman Bobbi McDowell (Shady Side, Md./Bishop McNamara) chipped with 16 and freshman Brooke Bowman (Garden City, Mich.) notched 10.   

Sophomore Jamie Reyes (Yorba Linda, Calif.) finished with 61 assists and tied sophomore Cleaya Antes (Carson, Calif./California Academy of Math and Science) with a team high five aces. Ortiz notched four to aid the attack.  

Defensively, Antes and Ortiz paced the squad with 15 digs each.  Reyes contributed nine and freshman Grace Park (Clarksville, Md./Atholton) put up eight.  Pasker ended the contests with four solo blocks.  

With the win, Notre Dame moves to 9-11 on the season, 3-3 on the year and will return to action on Thursday night as they travel to Immaculata University to break the tie for the fifth seed.  On Saturday, they will return to the MBK Sports Complex to take on Baptist Bible College for Senior Day.
