Box Score Baltimore, Md. -- The Notre Dame of Maryland University basketball team hosted Colonial States Athletic Conference rival Cedar Crest College in the final game of the 2013-2014 season.
The Gators were led by freshman
Stephanie Miller (Darnestown, Md./Northwest) with a total of seven points. Freshman
Erika Deppenschmidt (Philadelphia, Pa.) contributed six points. Junior
Shaun De' Jones (Baltimore, Md.) led the team in rebounds, posting 14 for the Gators. Notre Dame gave a very strong effort, however Cedar Crest was able to pull away in the second half to earn the victory 53-26.
Despite the team's record, Notre Dame showed great improvements over the season and will look to take much newly gained experience into the 2014-2015 season. On the defensive end, the Gators allowed fewer points per game than last year. In addition, Notre Dame forced its opponents into lower shooting percentages this year, a strong reflection of the team's cohesiveness. The Gators also showed strong improvements offensively this year. The squad posted more offensive rebounds in thanlast year, giving way to the team's constant hustle to the net on shots. The Gators also improved in offensive schematics this year through their increase in assists over last year. Notre Dame will look to return all of its players for next year and bring in a strong freshman class to bolster the team's strength.
