Box Score Baltimore, Md.  --  McDaniel College displayed a full team effort as they defeated Notre Dame of Maryland University in a volleyball match between in-state rivals.

For the Gators, senior Marylu Ortiz (Oceanside, Calif./El Camino) led the offense with 16 kills and chipped into the defensive effort with a team high two blocks and second-best 11 digs.

Freshman Jaime Reyes (Yorba Linda, Calif.) added 27 assists on the night while sophomore Cleaya Antes (Carson, Calif./California Academy of Math and Science) paced the squad's defense with 17 digs.

Antes also tied freshman Ashley Pasker (Newark, N.J./University) for Notre Dame's lead in aces.

In the opening set, the Gators tied the game at 8-8, but the Green Terror pulled away, turning a 12-10 advantage into 20-12 lead before claiming the first set 25-19.  The second set saw Notre Dame keep the game close but were unable to get over the hump as they tied McDaniel 21-21 but four straight points by the visitors made the final 25-21 for the Green Terror.  McDaniel managed to pull away in the third set, taking advantage of depth to take the closing set 25-15.

Notre Dame, 5-7, now enjoys nearly a week from action before opening Colonial States Athletic Conference play on Wednesday as they travel to Cairn University.
