Gators Honor Kent On Senior Day; Volleyball Drops CSAC Duel To Cabrini

Box Score Baltimore, Md.  --  Notre Dame of Maryland University hosted Colonial States Athletic Conference power Cabrini College for Senior Night and honored senior Taylor Kent (Baltimore, Md./Wilde Lake) prior to the game.

Offensively, sophomore Ashley Pasker (Newark, N.J./University) paced the team with eight aces, and finished with a hitting percentage of .333.  Sophomore Stephanie Roche (Baltimore, Md./Perry Hall) posted a career-high 18 assists.  Freshman Peyton Smith (Valley Lee, Md./Great Mills) posted two aces.

Junior Cleaya Antes (Carson, Calif./California Academy of Math and Science) led the defense with 13 digs.  Sophomore Grace Park (Clarksville, Md./Atholton) added eight while Smith chipped in with seven.

To start the match, Kent would give Notre Dame a lead by serving for an ace.  Cabrini answered quickly and the teams would fight to a 7-7 tie before going on a 14-6 run to push it to 21-13, and eventually took the opening set 25-16.  The Cavaliers took control of the second set early and powered to a 25-15 win.

In the final set, both teams battled back and forth, and witnessed eight ties on their way to an 18-18 score.  With the score 8-6, Smith posted two aces to give the Gators a 9-8 lead.  After Cabrini re-took a 12-10 lead, the Gators again answered to force a tie at 13-13.  The teams then answered each other to get the score to 18-18.  Unfortunately, the Cavaliers demonstrated why they have won their past 36 CSAC matches by posting a 7-1 run to take a 25-19 win, and the 3-0 match victory.

Notre Dame will look to bounce back as they head to Cedar Crest College on Saturday for their final match of the regular season.  The Gators will play Tuesday in the first round of the CSAC playoffs, but will not know their opponent until after Marywood University takes on Immaculata University.
