Box Score GWYNEDD VALLEY, Pa. – Notre Dame volleyball picked up their sixth conference win of the season over Colonial States Athletic Conference opponent Gwynedd Mercy on Tuesday evening. The Gators traveled to the Griffins, defeating them in straight sets: 25-14, 25-18, 25-12.
To open the first set, Notre Dame and Gwynedd Mercy traded point, seeing the score tied through the first six points, the Gators would go on a 5-0 run to take an 8-3 lead. Notre Dame would use another five-point run late in the first set to help secure a first-set victory, 25-14. In the second set, the Gators and Griffins would stay even, seeing the score tied at seven apiece. Several two-point runs in the second set would give Notre Dame a shallow lead. After the Gators held a 17-14 lead, they would go on a 6-1 run to and eventually take the second set, 25-18. In the final set of the match, Notre Dame held Gwynedd Mercy to 12 points. They would use five aces and an eight-point run at the end of the match to secure their sixth conference win.
Sophomore
Kayleigh Davis and freshman
Sarah Sweet paced the offense with 18 combined kills. At the service line, the Gators posted 10 aces, led by Sweet with five. This is the team's 15
th match this season with double-digit aces and is currently ranked second in the nation in aces with 301. On the defensive end, senior
Bobbi McDowell posted one block solo and one block assist, while three player posted 10 or more digs. Sophomore
Mary Marquez and Sweet paced the team with 12 apiece.
The win on Tuesday, moves Notre Dame to 19-4 overall and 6-2 in conference play. The Gators have three remaining conference games, first at home on Thursday against Rosemont.
