Volleyball's Win Streak Snapped

Box Score BALTIMORE, Md. -- The Notre Dame Gators took on the Immaculata Mighty Macs Thursday night. Notre Dame hosted its first of three "Gator Rally" events celebrating fall student athletes. There was plenty of noise from the crowd for the Colonial States Athletic Conference showdown.

The night did not disappoint, the Mighty Macs took the first set 25-16 giving the Gators only their third home set loss all season long. Notre Dame found their rhythm in the second set coming back with a 25-21 win. Up big to start the third set the Mighty Macs finished off the set 25-19.

Down 2-1 the Gators needed two set wins to stay undefeated at home. They fell behind early to Immaculata and the Mighty Macs finished strong for another 25-19 victory. In the loss the Gators were led by freshman Michaila Sheedy and Sarah Sweet with 12 and 11 kills respectively.  Sheedy's 12 kills is a career high in her rookie season.  With long rallies in the game, Notre Dame and Immaculata combined for 328 attacks.  The Gators finished the game with 95, with sophomores Kayleigh Davis and Mary Marquez combining for 53.

This is the Gators' first Conference loss on year putting them at 3-1 in CSAC play and ending their impressive 11 game win streak. They head to Scranton Pa. on Saturday to face Marywood and Centernary in a trimatch.
