Box Score ALLENTOWN, Pa. – Notre Dame of Maryland basketball opened their 2017-18 season on the road today at Muhlenberg College in the Scotty Wood Tournament. The Gators faced host school, the Mules for a 6:00 p.m. start. Notre Dame suffered a tough season opening loss to Muhlenberg, 97-42.
The Gators were led by senior
Zaria Comer who posted her first double-double of the season with 22 points and 12 rebounds. Comer finished her junior season with eight double-doubles and now has 26 for her career. Comer shot 9-for-16 from the floor and was 4-for-4 from the free throw line. Freshman
Keyeria Dawson posted seven points in her career debut for the Gators, while adding four rebounds. Senior
Dania Taylor, leading the offense, posted five assists, while junior
Justine Mudiay tallied five rebounds.
Notre Dame got off to a slow start against the Mules, being outscored in the first quarter, 32-10. After going into the half down 56-22, the Gators came into the third quarter strong. Notre Dame took the third quarter 14-13, but dropped the fourth 28-6. The Gators posted 36 rebounds, eight assists, and four steals against Muhlenberg.
Tomorrow, the Gators will face University of Valley Forge for the consolation game of the Scotty Wood tournament. The game starts at 1:00 p.m. and can be viewed via live
