Box Score 3 CLARKS SUMMIT, Pa. – The Notre Dame volleyball team went 3-0 this weekend posting their first conference win of the season against Clarks Summit University and securing two more in a quad match at CSU. The Gators defeated CSU, Alice Lloyd College, and York (N.Y.) College, 3-0, totaling 10 sweeps this season.
In their opening match against their conference opponent, the Gators secured 25-10, 25-16, and 25-13 victories. Sophomore
Kayleigh Davis paced the team with 10 kills followed by freshman
Sarah Sweet with seven. Four players combined for 11 aces, led by Sweet with four and sophomore
Mary Marquez and senior
Grace Park with three apiece. The Gators also tallied eight blocks, led by senior
Bobbi McDowell who had three assists. Marquez paced the team with 10 digs, while the team finished the match with 29.
In their second match, the Gators faced Alice Lloyd College (Ky.). Notre Dame went 25-12, 25-12, 25-16 against ALC. Senior
Ashley Guy paced the team with nine kills, tying a career-high. Sweet and Davis both finished with eight kills, while Sweet led the team in aces with four. A productive day for both the defense and the offense, the team tallied 72 digs and seven blocks led by Marquez with 32 and McDowell with 4.5 blocks, respectively. The offense tallied 38 kills, 34 assists, and 13 aces.
In their final match, Notre Dame faced York College of New York. The Gators secured 25-9, 25-6, and 25-6 set victories. Guy led the team in kills with six, followed by Sweet with five. The team totaled 22 aces, for the second highest performance this season. Reyes led the team with 12 aces, just shy of her career-high set earlier this season.
Notre Dame volleyball moves to 12-2 this season and 1-0 in CSAC play. This is their best season start since joining the CSAC in 2007. On Tuesday, the team will host Wesley College and then host CSAC foe Cairn University on Wednesday.
