Gators Snap Four-Game Losing Streak With Win Over Cedar Crest

Box Score BALIMORE, Md. – The Notre Dame of Maryland basketball secured a stand out victory over Colonial States Athletic Conference opponent Cedar Crest College Saturday afternoon, snapping their four-game losing streak.  In the game, every player helped contribute in the team's 80-63 conference victory.

In the game, Notre Dame had four player post double-figures in scoring for the second time this season.  Senior Zaria Comer and freshman Adrianna Fletcher led the team with 16 apiece.  Fletcher had a career game, posting a career-high points bolstered by her career-high, four three pointers. 

Junior Justine Mudiay added 15 points, while adding season-high and team-leading four steals.  Senior Ashley Guy finished the game with 12 points, going 2-for-2 from the free-throw line, while reeling in seven rebounds. 

Comer and senior Naimani Staley led the team with a combined 17 rebounds, while the team finished with 49.  The team had a season-high 20 assists, with Comer posting a season-high and game-leading five assists. 

Freshman Shabrea Ellison also had an impressive game from the floor posting a career-high seven points, helping lead the team to their season-high 49.2% field goal percentage.  Ellison finished the game with a 75.0% field goal percentage.

The Gators got off to a slow start in the first quarter, only scoring two points in the first seven minutes of play.  Notre Dame cut their five-point deficit to three off a layup by Comer from Staley with 2:32 left to play in the first.  The Gators held the Falcons to just two points, while putting up eight to close out the quarter.  They went into the second quarter with a 12-9 lead.

Notre Dame kept up the pressure to open the second quarter, holding Cedar Crest scoreless through the first two minutes.  Back-to-back three-pointers by Fletcher in the fourth minute of the second helped get the team to their largest lead, 30-16.  After free-throws by Cedar Crest with four minutes left in the half, Notre Dame went on a 12-0 run to go into halftime up, 42-22.

In the five minute-mark of the third quarter, the Gators hit their largest lead of the night day off another three-pointer by Fletcher, up 31, 58-27.  Cedar Crest began to chip away at the Notre Dame lead in the second half of the third quarter, closing the third with a 17-9 run.  The Gators held a 67-44 lead going into the final frame. 

In the fourth quarter, Cedar Crest outscored Notre Dame 19-13, but the Gators held on to secure their first CSAC victory of the season, 80-63.

Notre Dame moves to 4-7 overall and 1-3 in the CSAC.  They will host their first game of their three-game home stand on Tuesday against Neumann University.
