Field Hockey Posts Shutout at Lancaster Bible

LANCASTER, Pa. – In their second game in three days, the Notre Dame field hockey team dominated the Lancaster Bible Chargers, securing their second consecutive win, 9-0.  Over the past two games, the Gators have put up 17 goals after going scoreless through their first four games of the season. 

Freshman Vanessa Dunn got the scoring started for Notre Dame posting her first score of the game in the 17th minute.
 
Lancaster held Notre Dame to just the one goal through the next 15 minutes of play despite three shots and three penalty corners by the Gators.

With time running down in the half, Dunn scored again, this time assisted by freshman Kelsey Campbell with two minutes left.

With no time left on the clock, Notre Dame posted another score as junior Jessica Wells tipped a shot in assisted from Megan Morales.

The Gators went into the half with a solid 3-0 lead, but didn't let up in the second half.

Notre Dame racked up another six goals in the second half to secure their second win of the season.

Five different players registered goals for the Gators lead by Dunn who recorded her first career hat trick.

Morales and freshman Campbell both scored two goals apiece while Wells and freshman Licia Marcano added one each.

Not only did the Gators post nine goals in the game, but all but two scores were assisted. 

Wells led with three assists, followed by Morales with two.  Campbell and sophomore Keyeria Dawson also had assists in the win.

The Chargers only posted two shots in the game and only one on goal.  Freshman Fallon Katz, coming off her CSAC Defensive Player of the Week honor, scored the save for her first career shutout.

WHAT'S NEXT?
The Gators will try to make it three wins in a row as they host Hood College on Thursday.  Game time is set for 4:30 pm.
