Box Score HUNTINGDON, Pa. — The Notre Dame volleyball team faced off against Juniata College in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. The Gators fell in straight sets to the Eastern Region number one seed.
Sophomores
Sarah Sweet and
Michaila Sheedy pace the offense, racking up six kills against the Juniata defense. Sweet scores the Gators' lone aces, picking up two against the Eagles.
Freshman
Alyssa Kerns recorded a .250 hitting percentage, recording five kills on 12 attempts. Junior
Kayleigh Davis scored two of the team's 21 kills, followed by sophomore
Anna Gamble and senior
Ricelle Taganas.
Feeding the Notre Dame offense, junior
Sara Few les the team with 11 assists, followed by Taganas with nine.
On the defensive end, the Gators posted 29 digs and six assisted blocks. Davis paced the Gators with eight digs followed by Taganas with seven. Junior libero,
Mary Marquez finished with six.
Sheedy tallied two assisted blocks, while Gamble, Kerns, Sweet and Taganas tallied one apiece.
The Gator season comes to a close, but without scoring some major milestones. Notre Dame volleyball brought home the first Colonial States Athletic Conference in school history. For the first time since 2005, the volleyball program reached the NCAA Tournament, finishing the season with a 25-5 overall record.
