Mudiay Scores 20 in 59-52 Win Over PSU York

YORK, Pa. – The Gators will head into 2019 in the win column after scoring a 59-52 victory over Penn State York on the road Wednesday night.  In their last game of 2018, the Gators move to 5-6 overall with the non-conference win.

The Gators surged to a commanding lead, holding the Nittany Lions to only three first quarter points, while tying a season-high first quarter points with 18.

Both teams played even through the next two quarters with both NDMU and PSU scoring 19 in the second and the Gators leading the third, 14-13.  In the fourth quarter, the Gators stayed just out of reach as the Nittany Lions outscored Notre Dame, 17-8.

The Notre Dame victory was backed by senior Justine Mudiay's 20-point game.  This is the fourth time in her career posting 20 or more points.  Mudiay went 8-for-19 from the floor and 2-for-5 from the three-point line.  She also led the team in assists tallying five of the team's 11.

Sophomores Adrianna Fletcher and Keyeria Dawson each recorded eight points in the win, with Fletcher recording two three-pointers.  Dawson split her points between the free-throw line and the floor; she went a perfect 4-for-4 from the line and added two baskets from the floor.

On the boards, sophomore Jaya Green and freshman Daija Fitchett both reeled in 10 rebounds apiece, with the team finished with 48.

Green and freshman Vanessa Dunn were also leading scorers for the Gators.  Dunn finished with eight points with two three-pointers, while posted three field goals and one free-throw.
