SWEET BRIAR, Va. – Notre Dame field hockey secured their first win of the season Sunday afternoon in their second of two games this weekend. After hosting Colonial States Athletic Conference opponent Keystone College Saturday, the Gators traveled to Sweet Briar College for non-conference action.
Notre Dame got out to an early lead, scoring in the first two minutes of play. Freshman
Vanessa Dunn scored off a rebound to the far post for her first career goal.
In the ninth minute of play, the Gators got on the board again as senior
Megan Morales scored off a pass from Dunn.
The Vixen answered and posted their first goal, in the 12
th minute.
Notre Dame did not let up scoring another three goals in the first half. In the second half, the Gators held the Vixen scoreless, posting an 8-1 victory.
Six different players scored in the 8-1 win for Notre Dame. Freshman
Alyssa Wilkerson-Dietz and Dunn led the team in goals, each posting two goals in the win. Both players recorded their first career goals.

Jessica Wells and senior
Peace Ani each scored a goal in the win.
The Gators outshot the Vixen 29-20 with 19 of their shots being on goal.
In goal for Notre Dame, freshman
Fallon Katz tallied 10 saves. This is her third consecutive game with 10 or more saves. She is currently in second in the CSAC for saves per game with 9.00.
WHAT'S NEXT?
Notre Dame field hockey will have three games this upcoming week, first they will travel to Lancaster Bible College Tuesday and then return home for two games. On Thursday, they will host Hood College and then Cedar Crest College Saturday.
