INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Announced today in the
NCAA Division III Monthly Update, the Notre Dame of Maryland University Department of Athletics was selected as the September Division III Diversity Spotlight Initiative.
Notre Dame received this recognition from the NCAA after their successful OneTeam Week, celebrated during the week of September 16, 2019. OneTeam Week was a week-long observance to the Division III LGBTQ+ OneTeam Program. "We are excited to use the NCAA's diversity initiative to help fulfill our NDMU mission," said Athletic Director Renee Bostic. "As an institution, we look forward to our next opportunity to live out our goal of promoting the importance of diversity and inclusion." NDMU has been granted $500 towards their next Diversity Initiative.
Throughout the week, daily OneTeam training sessions were scheduled, incorporating all sports, classes, and majors. The diverse groups in each training session yielded open conversations and provided each student-athlete the educational tools to continue the OneTeam messaging. Throughout the week, roughly 120 student-athletes, administrative staff, and coaches received the OneTeam training, which included engaging conversations and thought provoking exercises.
