Notre Dame to sponsor Men's Volleyball as a varsity sport

Play begins during 2026-27 academic year

BALTIMORE, Md. – Notre Dame of Maryland University Director of Athletics and Wellness Dr. Ashley Wagner has announced that NDMU will be adding Men's Volleyball as a varsity sport during the 2026-27 academic year.

This addition – Notre Dame's sixth male sport offering – will play in the United East Conference.

"We are excited to add men's volleyball to our growing list of sports offerings," said Dr. Wagner. "Notre Dame of Maryland University is committed to giving our student-athletes the opportunity to compete, and we look forward to starting competition this season."

The men's volleyball team will be coached by current women's volleyball coach Henry DeTitta. DeTitta, entering his 20th year as the helm of the women's program, has over 250 wins during his time with the Gators, including two trips to the NCAA tournament in 2018 and 2019.

Before arriving at Notre Dame, DeTitta was an assistant women's volleyball coach at UMBC, where he was a four-year member of the men's club volleyball team. DeTitta is actively involved in USA Volleyball (USAV) teams and doubles tournaments, has played in several regional championships, and was an All-Regional Team setter. He also competed at USAV Nationals for six years.
