ATLANTA, Ga. – The 2019 Colonial States Athletic Conference Volleyball Champions closed out their remarkable campaign on the road in the first round of the NCAA Tournament hosted by Emory University. The Gators faced the number one seeded Eagles falling in straight sets, 3-0.
Hitting for the Gators, senior
Kayleigh Davis and sophomore
Alyssa Kerns led the team in kills. Davis finished the match with nine, while Kerns added six. Senior
Sara Few and junior
Michaila Sheedy added a kill apiece.
Feeding the offense, Few tallied 13 assists, while also adding three digs.
From the service line, freshman
Ivanella Figueroa led the team with two aces. Figueroa and senior
Mary Marquez also led the team defensively with six digs apiece.
Kerns and freshman
Gabbi Taganas had the Gators lone block.
Despite the loss in the first round of the NCAA Tournament, the Gators had a strong 2019 season. Notre Dame graduates three starters this spring, but have a strong underclass core ready to fill their shoes.
