ROSEMONT, Pa. – The Colonial States Athletic Conference announced this year's 2018-19 All-Conference Women's Basketball team today. Three Notre Dame student-athlete were named All-Conference, the first time in program history with three CSAC honorees.
Freshman
Daija Fitchett, in her rookie season, was named to the Second Team All-CSAC. This is the highest honor in program history for the Gators. Last season, senior Zaria Comer earned CSAC Honorable Mention, the first honor for the program.
Fitchett surged in the back half of the season, becoming a dominate threat for the Gators. In her first 14 games she only averaged 4.3 points per game, but in her last 11 is averaging 12.4 points per game and has posted four double-doubles. While averaging 7.9 rebounds overall this season, she is averaging just over 10 in her last 11 games.
To close out the regular season, she led the team in field goals (89), rebounds (198), and blocked shots (24). In back-to-back weeks, Fitchett earned CSAC Player of the Week and then Honor Roll recognitions.
Sophomore
Adrianna Fletcher also earned postseason honors, being named to the CSAC Honorable Mention Team. Fletcher led the team this season in points per game, averaging 9.4. She also leads the team in made three-pointers (53) and is currently ranked sixth in the conference for three-pointers per game (2.1).
Fletcher is also second in rebounds for the Gators right behind Fitchett, averaging 4.7 per game and is second in steals with 1.3 per game. She also leads the team in average minutes played at 31.0 per game. She was recognized by the CSAC over three weeks, being named to the Honor Roll three times this season.
Senior
Justine Mudiay is Notre Dame's awardee for the CSAC All-Sportsmanship team. This is Mudiay's first CSAC postseason honor. Mudiay is averaging 7.6 points per game, 2.0 assists and 1.2 steals. She was honored prior to the Gators' final regular season home game. She will leave her name in the Notre Dame record books for career three-pointers and blocks.
This season, she earned CSAC Player of the Week honors and Honor Roll in separate weeks.
The Gators are hosting their first CSAC Playoff game today at 7:00 p.m. versus Wilson. The Gators are 1-1 against the Phoenix, defeating them earlier in the season at home and then falling to them last week on the road. Both games came down to the final minute of play.
