NDMU Falls in CSAC Doubleheader

BALTIMORE, Md. -- The Gators played host to Colonial States Athletic Conference opponent Wilson College, Thursday afternoon.

GAME 1
In game one, the Phoenix jumped out to an early lead scoring seven runs in the first inning.

Wilson threatened to score in the second, and with runners on second and third freshman Amethyst Stevens made an amazing double play. On a ball hit to third Stevens tagged out the runner and threw out the batter at first ending the inning.

At the plate the Gators struggled and couldn't get a runner to second base against dominate pitching.

The Phoenix added one more run in the fourth inning. That would finish the scoring as they took game one, 8-0.

Senior Samantha Kastner logged the lone hit for the Gators, while sophomore Jodie Bronushasdrew the only walk.

Pitching for Notre Dame, junior Isa Carunungan recorded three strikeouts.

GAME 2
In game two, Stevens started where she left off in field by diving head first for the third out in the first inning.

The Gators held the high octane offense of the Phoenix quiet through the first few innings but couldn't hold on as Wilson ran away with a lead.

Notre Dame scored one run in the third inning when freshman Maci Lopez lined a single down the left field line to score sophomore Rena Dyson.

The Phoenix would add a few more runs and head home with a 15-1 win.

In game two, five different players recorded hits, while Lopez scored the team's lone RBI.

Bronushas notched four strikeouts in five innings pitched.

WHAT'S NEXT?
The Gators will head to CSAC opponent, Centenary University to face the Cyclones on Tuesday afternoon.
