Kastner Reaches 100th Hit, Bronushas Pitches First Perfect Game

WASHINGTON, D.C. – In a late add to their 2019 schedule, the Notre Dame softball team traveled to Gallaudet University to face non-conference opponent Trinity Washington University.  In their second meeting of the season, the Gators added two more wins to their record, 26-0 and 25-3.

GAME 1
After a slow first inning, the Gators got the bats moving, racking up 11 runs in the second.

Eight Gators notched hits in the game, led my freshman Maci Lopez with four.  She went 4-for-5 with one walk.  Seven players had a multi-hit game.

Sophomore Jodie Bronushas and senior Samantha Kastner notched two doubles, while junior Isa Carunungan tallied one.  Bronushas went 2-for-3, and Kastner went 3-for-4.

Bronushas advancing to six wins on the season, recorded her first-career perfect game.  She faced fifteen batters in her five innings pitched, striking out 11.  She was two strikeouts shy of her career high.

The Gators broke the school record for runs in a game.  In the 26-0 victory, Notre Dame surpassed the 24 run mark they tied earlier this season in their last meeting with the Tigers.
